SamHill Bakes is owned and operated by Sam Hill (which is me!).

My love of baking comes from my dear late mum.  I was one of those lucky kids at school to have a mum that always made sure the tins were full of her homemade biscuits, cake or slices.  Not to mention the homemade jam, marmalade, pies, quiches, chutneys and relishes.  I can still remember to this day the kitchen cupboard where mum stored all of her delicious baking.

My love of cake decorating started when I was living in the UK in my very early twenties.  I did a cake decorating class and I was hooked!  I jumped at every opportunity to bake and decorate cakes.  I recall making a knitting themed cake for my Nan's 80th birthday.  The techniques, styles and ingredients were so different back then.  I returned to NZ in the early nineties and at that point I stopped decorating cakes.

Fast forward to 2012; I picked up a piping bag, decorated some cupcakes and once again I was instantly hooked!  I haven't looked back.

My passion is baking and decorating. It's always an honor to be asked to make a cake for a birthday, an engagement, a new arrival or just because.

I bake and create from our registered home kitchen in Mt Albert, Auckland, NZ operating under a Food Control Plan with Auckland City Council and MPI.

Having an online shop is just the beginning of my cake dream.......
